Distressed Denim On A Budget

Hope everyone enjoyed the Holidays!
If you're looking for something to buy with some newly acquired gift cards I've got a suggestion:
Distressed black jeans!

Here are two higher end options which have been popular this season. On the left are a pair by Rag & Bone (a celebrity favorite), $220. And on the right are a pair by J Brand, $218. Both are available in most sizes at shopbop.com.
Below are some more budget friendly versions:
From left to right:  just one of the many options of this style at Asos $60.64, American Eagle marked down from $49.95 to $29.99, and Forever 21 $19.50.
So what do you think? Is this trend worth the splurge, or will you try a dupe?

The Look For Less: Choker Necklace

Child of Wild Gojjam Black Velvet Choker $48, featured in For Love and Lemons holiday look book

The 90's are back in a big way via choker necklaces. The black velvet ones I've been seeing by designers Child of Wild and Vanessa Mooney add a bit of attitude, and sexiness to any look.
For "trendy" pieces like this, I prefer to start with a dupe to see how much wear I get out of it. And, to see if I even like it enough to splurge on a higher end product. Here's a dupe to try out the trend!
Western Concho's are on all types of accessories right now. I've noticed them on boots, belts, hats, and jewelry. Can you believe there's an $85 difference between these two chokers? The Vanessa Mooney necklace is definitely more heavy duty, featuring a clasp and a few more conchos. But I'd be just fine with the Pylo option. Check out their website for quite a few more chokers in the $9 to $20 range.
Or, pick up the real deal on sale!! at Urban Outfitters:
Vanessa Mooney Cross Choker now $29.99

What are your favorite accessories at the moment?

Faux Fur

Night Dazzler Jacket @ Nasty Gal $98
A faux fur coat is the perfect thing to throw over a holiday or New Years Eve dress. It's a versatile winter piece that can be used to achieve a boho styled look as well. Check out the models below for some ideas.
Glamorous Sass Master Coat, $128

I love the mix of black and white in these two coats. Looks great paired with a black hat.

Striped Faux Fur Coat (On Sale!!) $27.93

And a great night time option, below.
Collared Luxe Faux Fur Jacket, Currently $41.93
I featured Forever 21 jackets as the lower priced options, because they are currently having a 30% off outerwear sale. Pick one up on sale just in time for your holiday events!

Western Style Booties

My favorite fashion trend from the past few years has been booties. They are so versatile and I love that they translate to all seasons. They're great with skinny jeans in the colder months, and shorts and dresses in the warmer months.
Todays trend is the western style ankle boot.
On top is the Meyer Bootie by Matisse, $176. And below is the Barlow Bootie by Joie, $325. Of course I've got some less expensive alternatives for you.

On the left are a pair of Charles Albert booties, on sale for $24.99 at 6PM! On the right are the Sam & Libby Deanna, available at Target in 3 different colors for $44.99.
I purchased the pair of Charles Alberts last February, they're still in great shape and a go to bootie for me. I wasn't expecting much because the price is so low, but they have proven to be a good shoe!
I always keep my eye out for new Sam and Libby shoes because the corporation is owned by shoe designer Sam Edelman and his wife Libby. Each pair I own I've had great luck with and I've noticed that many of the Target styles are similar to the Sam Edelman shoes, but much easier on the wallet.
So what do you think? Are you gonna saddle up with the western trend ;)?

Stone Cold Fox Quixote Crop

The Stone Cold Fox Quixote Crop was a hit this summer, selling out at many stores and seen on girls at  tons of music festivals. I think this crop could easily be transitioned into a fall and winter piece by styling it with skinny jeans and a kimono, or with a maxi skirt as seen below. If you missed out on this top over the summer heres a chance to pick up a dupe!

Ivory Sweetheart Crop, $38
Quixote Crop, $162 (limited sizes available)
